Hadji Ali Akbar & Sons Ltd. is an English conglomerate, founded & headquartered in Manchester, England. It was founded by Hadji Ali Akbar Tajer Shirazi in 1885. Hadji Ali Akbar secured contracts with the British East India Company to trade cotton & tea in Mumbai.
Later, this company in Iran played an important role in the establishment of the first bank (Imperial Bank of Persia), the first weaving and spinning factory (Islamieh & Watan Factories), the first steamship company (Persia Steamship Company) and the first mining company (Siri Mining Company) in Iran.
Also, this company imported Iranian cotton and textiles to England and was one of the most and top important suppliers of fabric and yarn during World War I and II. The company was run by Shirazi Family and finally dissolved in 1962 and became Shirazi Limited Corporation.
